What’s your opinion on our school play? What do you think I should do?

by admin on December 12, 2009

For the first time this year I was cast for the school play. We did not have a lot of time to prepare it and many people felt it would embarrass our drama department to show the public this play. They asked the director if it was possible to move the date. He was very stubborn and like a dictator and refused to do it.

On Wednesday some of the girls gave the director the choice you change the play date or we quit. Well, 5 people out of 9 quit and then the director asked me if I wanted to still be in it. I said I didn’t know because I don’t want to be up on stage, embarrassed because we would suck. So I said just I couldn’t do it.

Now I am not sure I did the right thing because I’ve never quit anything in my life and feel like I wasted all my time memorizing all but a few lines. On the other hand now the director is getting people to read the script on stage for the community to see this Saturday to prove a point. Do you think I should be a part of it? It could be an amazing play but not if we do it Saturday.

sounds like it’s time for a job change. i don’t think it was right for people to quit the show once they had already committed to it, and i think after making the commitment, you should stick with it. sure, it might be a big mess on stage, but it just goes to show that not everything is going to be perfect in the end.
