Getting better vocal projection?

by admin on March 22, 2010

Ok so I want to be on Broadway when I get older. I’m planmning on going to school for a double major in Musical Theater and Music Education and Minoring in Child Pyschology. In my chest voice I can be loud and project very very well. But I’m not sure if it’s “yelling” singing or the correct way of singing. And in my head voice I ahve problems projecting. Any advice on how I can project louder, better and correctly?

the rick to higher notes is more air. (i don’t know if you’ve heard that before or not) really, it’s all about how you come at the note. never anticipate it too much and when it comes time to sing those notes at the top of your register just pretend like you’re going down from the top to the note. i’m an alto 2, so i feel you but practice and listening to your choir teacher (i’m assuming you’re in choir) is really your best bet. :)

stand up straight, and the most important part, CONTROL. flex your abs a little bit and you use ur diaphragm to PUSH air out of your lungs and open your throat up.

Projection is linked through ur breathing, when u breathe in ur diafram (stomache) should go out, and as ur singing it should come back in, this allows u to hold much more air, and it gives u more control over how loud and soft you want your voice to be. best way to practise it is lie on the floor, plce a book on ur stomach and breathe in and out, if the book rises when ur breathing in, then ur doing it right:)

If you want to strengthen your voice, the best thing I know of is this program called Singing Success. It’s a wee bit on the pricey side, but it’s worth every penny. It WILL require work, but it will even out your voice and add at least an octave to your range: http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?af=745025
