Does anybody have any good comedy scripts?

by admin on November 21, 2009

I am a freshman and I need to do an act for my drama comedy show. If you know any good websites with many scripts or a single script that would be great. It just needs to be appropriate for 9th grade students. I can possibly edit out swearing.

“Sure Thing” by David Ives is the most hilarious short play I’ve ever seen. We did it when I was in 9th grade, and I think only one edit (an f-word) was required. It’s about five or six minutes and has one man, one woman and one stage hand (offstage ringing a bell).

I can’t find it online, but you can buy it on amazon.com. There is currently a used copy available for $2.75+3.59 s&h. I promise it is worth it. Even if you don’t perform it, it is worthwhile reading for any aspiring writer or actor.

You can sample it here first.

Remember that this is copyrighted material. Check with your school administrators for information on this. I don’t really know whether you’re free to do this. We had to pay roayalties when we did it, but it was not through a school drama department, it was through the town community theater, so the rules may be different.

Also, “Words, words, words”, is equally hilarious and available in the same volume. it’s a Shakespearean play involving mokeys.
